Funders come up trumps for Coast Path work

This year the ranger teams right across the North Devon coastline have been super busy carrying out a lot of improvements to the South West Coast Path and the amenities that serve it and we are so grateful for the generosity and hard work of our many funders. At Bideford, at least 12 separate projects have being undertaken on land in our care – resurfacing, new signage, 50 metres of new boardwalk and 12 old stiles swapped for oak gates have helped made the path easier to access for all. Simliar work has taken place between Croyde and Ilfracombe and over on West Exmoor, the car park at Heddon Valley now has an all weather surface meaning more people can park there in the wetter winter months to enjoy the superb walking opportunties. We are all so grateful to the South West Coast Path Association and all the public who raised money through their ‘Great West South Walk’ at the start of the year, The Rural Development Programme for England, Exmoor National Park Partnership Fund, the Forestry Commission, the owners of Steart Farm Touring Park and anyone else who donated to our work in some way this year. Last word to Steve, General Manager for the North Devon coast – ‘we hope that people get out and enjoy the variety and spectacle of the coast during the winter.”
