As you may have heard on 7th September 2013 Coastwise in partnership with local organisations, including the National Trust, are hosting a Bioblitz to mark the 10th Anniversay Year Celebration for UNESCO North Devon Biosphere Reserve. The aim is to measure wildlife diversity in and around Woolacombe and to help visitors explore and discover the hugely diverse range of creatures, flowers and beasts that live right on our doorstep. I know it’s not till September but Georgeham and Woolacombe Primary schools have already been getting involved and I just had to shout about it! From an inspirational art day in Woolacombe Warren, watching bagers, fox’s and deer on our new trail cam and seeing some mini beasts in a new light with our microscope camera, the children have designed and created fantastically bright and colourful bunting featuring fauna and flora from the local area. The bunting will be used to decorate the Bioblitz village and bring some hopefully unnecessary brightness to the event with regards to our highly predictable British weather!
