The South West Coast Path gets a makeover

Rain, rain and a bit more rain has meant that over 20 tonne of stone has been required on the South West Coast Path (SWCP) at Greencliff, Peppercombe, Portledge and Beckland in the last few months, in order to keep it safe. Along with other improvements such as boardwalks, drainage and steps all the stone was transported and deposited by wheelbarrow and bucket by our very own, and now very muscular team of staff and volunteers. But we’re not finished yet, with major improvements (and yet more surfacing!!) planned in the coming months.

We’ve had great feedback from the general public and some good excuses when I offered them a bucket, from bad knees and weak wrists to heavy back packs and stone allergies!

Thanks to everyone involved and we hope the improvements help people to enjoy this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
