On Saturday 15 September 2012 Woolacombe Surf Lifesaving Club, Renewable Energy Solutions and the National Trust are working together to run the Woolacombe Open Water swim event 2012.
There will be a 2 kilometre swim from Putsborough to Woolacombe suitable for experienced swimmers aged 16+ and a 500 metre swim from Mill rock to Woolacombe which is a great short distance challenge for swimmers aged 12+.
The Trust became involved in this event as it is a great way to help out and join in with the Woolacombe Surf Life Saving Club (WSLSC) who are a thriving local club. WSLSC are an active club who train and compete on the beach and in the sand dunes and getting involved in their Open water Swim is a great way for us to change some of the perceptions about the Trust and become more involved with the group and the local community.
This year is the 50th Anniversary of the WSLC and all money raised will go towards the future running of the club.
If this event sounds like a challenge for you then please go to the WSLSC website: www.woolacombeslsc.co.uk for information and entry form. It costs £15 to enter (£5 discount for SLSGB members).
