10 metres of Devon stone faced wall in 3 minutes?

Early February, National Trust volunteers from Hartland, West Exmoor and Arlington Court came to Woolacombe to try their hand at a bit of traditional Devonian walling. Despite the sub zero temperatures they were all kean to get stuck in. Once the basic principles of this particular style of wall were explained the old tumbling wall had to be removed, which was demolished in record time which kept everyone warm! With stones organised by size the building could commence. The attached time lapse photography clip from the second day describes the rest!

If you’d like to try your hand at Devon stone faced walling why not come on a working holiday and experience this skill in beatiful surroundings. Follow this link to find out more. http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/holidays/working-holidays/
