Stranded Seal Pup

Atlantic Grey Seal Pup

Yesterday morning an Atlantic Grey Seal pup was found on the sand at Woolacombe. It still had some of its white fur so was an older seal pup and as it was shivering and there were lots of dog walkers standing watching it we decided to coax it back into the sea where it eventually swam into the surf.

We felt this was the best course of action to take due to the stress the animal was  under and the fact that marine experts couldn’t come out for another 24 hours. If you should come across a very furry seal pup out of the water it should be left alone as they can not swim until they lose their fur.
