Rockpools and rubbish with Woolacombe school

With the sun shining and the surf going off, it was a perfect day to share with children and their teachers and helpers the wonders of Barricanes rockpools. Sea hares, anenenenenenomes (!), crabs and even a small unidentified fish were amongst the wonders we discovered hiding amongst the seaweed. We all had a great hunt and the children hopefully learnt a lot about their local wildlife. We then had a 10 minute rapid rubbish hunt and Jonathan talked about the rubbish the children found and where it came from and also the affect it has on our marine life. Thanks to everyone from Woolacombe School who came along and also to our volunteer Dave.

Hope Monday’s expedition with Shirwell School will be just as rewarding. I’ll be there, all being well. Paul C.
