Fun outdoors learning to map read

A small group stayed at Exmoor Bunkhouse last weekend and learned the basics in using a map and compass to explore the outdoors.

The navigation course was run in partnership with Exmoor Adventures and was the first time we had tried this kind of joint venture.

The weather was very kind to us and gave two glorious days of walking over Exmoor.  At the end of the weekend not only was everyone qualified to Bronze level in navigation, but also had valuable skills to give confidence in being outdoors either with friends and family or in a workplace setting.  Interestingly this course didn’t just attract walkers, but also someone who wanted to learn the skills to explore on horseback!

If you are interested then we are running another course 2nd – 4th December and hope to combine both the basic and more advanced skills to allow more people to enjoy the experience.
