National Trust Walling Workshop

Every year we hold a walling workshop to teach budding drystone wallers the art of drystone wall construction.  Earlier this week 14 enthusiastic people came to Morte Point and under Rob’s expert tuition spent two days restoring a derelict stretch of wall on Morte Point.  Using Morte Slate from our own quarry they repaired about 20 metres of wall, on the Monday in glorious sunshine and on the Tuesday in torrential rain.   Despite the awful weather conditions on the last day the group did a fantastic job and their enthusiam never wained.  Thanks very much.

  1. I think drystone walling is a real art and this wall looks beautiful.
