Gorse cutting with Kingsacre Primary School

We had a great day yesterday  working with children from Kingsacre Primary School in Braunton.  In glorious sunshine they cut and cleared a patch of gorse using loppers and bowsaws.  Whilst one group worked, Jemma lead another group on a walk around Morte Point where they saw lots of Grey Seals and heard tales of Morthoe’s smuggling and wrecking past.  You can see from the photo’s that the kids were able to clear alot of gorse and had a great time doing it whilst also learning a bit about why we clear gorse and the benefits this brings to wildlife in the area.   I think the kids even suprised themselves at how quickly they picked up the skills needed to use the tools safley and also by how much they managed to clear by home time.
