Sandleigh is the place to be!

This year new tenants Sarah and Brendan moved into Sandleigh on Moor Lane in Croyde. It was just a small house with a huge grassy yard full of weeds, but 8 months down the line, and Sandleigh has been totally transformed into a fantastic tea room and garden which not only sells lovely home-made food, but has a great garden to sit in and enjoy.

The garden is turned into small allotment plots which are rented out by people living locally, as well as providing fresh veg for the tea rooms. Brendan and Sarah will also be working with the local school to local children involved in growing their own vegetables.

If you haven’t been yet – do make every effort to go – our warden team have reported the cream teas are to die for! Sandleigh is on Moor Lane in Croyde – follow brown signs to Baggy Point and you will pass Sandleigh just before entering our National Trust car park. Park up, and you can walk in via the garden to the tea rooms.

  1. Called in specially at Sandleigh yesterday afternoon (19 Dec) for a steaming bowl of wonderful home-made soup – and mug of hot chocolate – and mincepie with lashings of clotted cream – just what was needed after a breezy walk out on Baggy Point in the snow! Full marks to Sarah & Brendan.

  2. A genuinely lovely place. Stopped by for a delicious clotted cream tea after a long winter’s walk on the beach (Jan 2011). Sat in the sheltered courtyard, it could have been a summers day (ignoring all the thermal layers of clothing) with blue sky and sunshine!
We found Sandleigh welcoming, friendly and relaxing with lovely food and will most definately be returning.

    • Croyde did not need to offer me anything more, having spent family holidays there virtually every year since 1955, but last summer, having parked as usual in the National Trust Car Park, I curiously walked into Sandleigh garden. Oh my goodness! I had just walked into heaven! The delightful fresh decor of the Tea Room, the inspiring veg plot and genuine friendliness of Sarah and Brendan with their beautiul young family……….and oh yes, the cream teas!!!! Well done, I didn’t think Croyde could get any better. See you soon………..x
