Tree Down and Homemade Brownies

Things rarely go to plan and we often find ourselves reacting to situations and dealing with problems when we should be elsewhere. Today we were supposed to be with our colleagues from across North Devon, and some guests from other areas, at an events planning meeting on Justin’s property. However, Mother Nature had other plans! We received a call from the National Park Offices to tell us that a tree had come down over the bridleway just above Watersmeet. So we went to have a look. What had actually happened was a large limb had almost snapped off a large oak and was now hanging like the Sword of Damocles right over the path. Steve and Marcus were soon in action whilst I, like any caring boss, was gainfully employed taking these snapshots with my Blackberry and offering measured and timely advice from a safe distance! We eventually made it to the Hartland property just in time for coffee and Hannah’s homemade brownies which, by the way, were very good, I ate three.
