First post from me – Justin, I am Area Warden for Bideford Bay & Hartland. A big thank you to the Regional Finance and Admin Team for all their help at Welcombe Mouth. The National Trust has only owned the site for the last 2 years, and during this time a huge amount of work has been done in the Valley from introducing grazing to managing the camping and visitors. Over the years the valley has suffered a lot of damage due mainly to camping, illegal parties and fires, we inherited 28 fire sites which over time due to our management has come down to 7. Finally the day came to repair these as well, so during the day we removed the damaged turf, soil, glass and metal etc from the remaining fire sites and replaced them with new turf. We also repaired some of the stepping stones and put up some nice new wooden signs informing visitors about what we had done.
A big thanks to the finance team for getting stuck in and helping to keep Welcombe beautiful.
